Treadmill line up

For over 30 years, Champions Health & Fitness has evolved from a small town gym to a large full-service health club, but one thing has never changed: owner Greg Lassiter’s commitment and compassion for helping people lead healthier lives.

Greg opened his first club, originally called “Body and Health Gym,” in Ayden, North Carolina, in 1984. With three pieces of equipment, a small aerobics room, and no members, Greg had a vision for the East. Starting with a bank loan of $4,000 and a rent payment of $100, Greg took a gamble while still working full time as a teacher.

After staying in that location for four years, Greg decided to focus on the gym full time and he moved the club to Downtown Greenville, a building on 5th Street, and changed the name to Champions Health and Fitness. After being downtown for five years, Champions grew again, relocating to a building across from Pitt Community College off Highway 11. With quality equipment, staff, and service, Champions continued to grow and was relocated to a 15,000 square foot club on Central Park Drive, off of Highway 11, in Winterville, North Carolina. In 2016 Champions built and moved to their current 20,000+ square foot facility at 4190 Bayswater Road in Winterville.

Inside Champions, you will find the perfect balance of new, cutting edge equipment, along with tried and true staples of any large gym. Now a large fitness center, Champions strives to remain current, with modern equipment such as recumbent elliptical machines and trending group fitness formats like HIIT, Zumba and Boxing. However, Champions Health & Fitness remain true its roots, its small town feel, by offering impeccable customer service, knowing members’ names, and truly caring about them.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for giving us a chance to serve you. I recognize that you are the reason we do what we do. Without you, we have no business. People recognize me as the owner of Champions. The real owner of Champions to me consists of three parts: customers, management, and employees. We ALL have a responsibility in helping each other succeed. Please know I am never too busy for any of your concerns.

Sincerely,
Greg Lassiter, President
